FC Kansas City forward Lauren Holiday was hospitalized in New Jersey with symptoms of dehydration following the Blues’ 5-0 victory against Sky Blue FC on Sunday.
Holiday, who is also a consistent contributor on the U.S. women’s national team, missed the Blues’ practice on Wednesday while awaiting test results. Technical director Huw Williams said she is expected to rejoin the team in Kansas City on Thursday. The team didn’t practice Monday or Tuesday.
“I went back to the hotel with her and a couple other players and she was great,” Williams said. “Right about 1 a.m. she started complaining about not feeling well and vomiting quite aggressively which lasted for about an hour and we decided to take her in at that point.”
Holiday ranks second on the team behind Amy Rodriguez with seven goals through 15 games and is tied with Erika Tymrak to lead the team with four assists.
