A newly formed women’s outdoor soccer league will make its debut in Kansas City.

FC Kansas City is slated to host Portland on April 13 to kick off the inaugural season of the eight-team National Women’s Soccer League, the league announced Tuesday.

Portland features Alex Morgan, a star from the U.S. women’s national team.

FC Kansas City, nicknamed the Blues, will play its home games at Shawnee Mission North District Stadium. The Blues open the year with three home dates — April 13 against Portland, April 20 against Boston and April 26 against Seattle FC.

Each of the league’s eight teams will play a 22-game schedule with 11 home games.

FC Kansas City will conclude the four-month regular season with a home game against Chicago on Aug. 18.

A four-team playoff will begin Aug. 24, with the league championship scheduled for Aug. 31.

All 11 home games for the Blues will be played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
