The National Women’s Soccer League announced a 20-week schedule for the 2015 season that will run from March to September with a two-week break for the group stages of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

The NWSL also announced partnerships with the Canada Soccer Association, Federation of Mexican Football and United States Soccer Federation that will allow for player allocations scheduled around the World Cup. Allocated players will start the season with their national teams and then play three or four games with NWSL teams before starting World Cup competition.

The NWSL also made an effort to give teams an average of 5.9 days of rest between games, which cut the average number of midweek games from 7.8 to 1.3.
