Kansas City’s women’s soccer team FCKC not expected to return in 2018

The National Women’s Soccer League franchise FC Kansas City will not remain in town for the 2018 season. After five seasons, it will either relocate to Salt Lake City or fold, sources told The Star. The news comes after Vlatko Andonovski’s resignation and controvery surrounding previous owners Chris Likens, his sons Brad and Greg, and Brian Budzinski. Current owner Elam Baer did not comment.

Coach who led FC Kansas City to two NWSL championships is leaving team

Vlatko Andonovski, who led FC Kansas City to two National Women’s Soccer League championships, will not return as coach and reportedly will become the Seattle Reign head coach. FC Kansas City and the NWSL started play in 2013, with the Blues reaching the four-team playoffs under Andonovski, the team’s only coach. The Blues won the league championship in 2014 and 2015 but have missed the playoffs the last two seasons.
