The Royals are giving fans a sneak peek at some of the promotions planned for the upcoming season.

“This week, through our social media outlets, we are revealing five of our giveaways for the 2014 season,” said Toby Cook, vice president of community affairs for the Kansas City Royals.

On Monday, the team announced on its it would give away special RoyalsCamo jerseys on Memorial Day (May 26) when the Royals play the Houston Astros.

“It’s a really cool jersey with the white Royals home jersey and the camo Royal script,” Cook said.

The Royals announced on Tuesday they would have six T-Shirt Tuesdays, starting May 13. The others are May 27, June 10, June 24, July 29 and Aug. 12.

For the sneak peek, the Royals showed the design of a big KC on a blue T-shirt that will be given away at the June 24 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Wednesday afternoon, the team announced it will give away a Monarchs Fedora as a salute to the Negro Leagues on May 18.

The fedora ties into the grassroots Dress To the Nines effort started last year to honor the tradition of fans attending Negro League games in their Sunday best.

Two other promos will be revealed on Thursday and Friday.

The Royals are using the its

Twitter account @royals to make the announcements. It also has some information on its Instagram and Facebook

The complete list of giveaways will be revealed during the Royals FanFest, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Bartle Hall at the Kansas City Convention Center, 301 W. 13th St.

“There are a couple promotions that are not going to be surprises,” Cook said. “We’re going to be bringing back the summer fireworks this year. So in May, June, July and August, there will be fireworks on Friday nights.”

At Opening Day on April 4 against the Chicago White Sox, the Royals will give away magnet schedules. On the last game of the year, Sept. 21 against the Detroit Tigers, an early-bird schedule with a team photo will be handed out.

Cook promised that the Royals will have at least three “very interesting bobbleheads.”

“These silly things have never gone out of style,” Cook said. “People love collecting them, even after all these years.”

This year’s bobbleheads will feature stars of the 2013 season, he said.

“We are going to be focusing on current players who are playing for the Royals,” Cook said. “If you can think of people who did really well in 2013, they’re included in the bobbleheads this year.”

For families, the Royals will continue to have Family FunDay Sunday throughout the season as well as KidsFest on July 13.

“It’s important for people to have a baseball team that is competitive and that they can cheer for, but fans love giveaways and they love to collect things,” Cook said. “When it comes to the T-shirts and bobbleheads and an individual giveaway that we might have on Armed Forces day, it has just become a part of baseball to collect those.”

It helps with ticket sales too.

“I think we have the best of both worlds going into this year because the team is expected to be very competitive — they have a chance to do great things on the field,” he said.

“When people are walking in the stands and they get something they can bring home and wear around the house or put up around the house, it tends to just increase everybody’s excitement about the team. That’s what we are looking to do.”
