Scratch veteran right-hander Tim Hudson from the Royals’ off-season wish list of possible replacements for free-agent Ervin Santana.
Hudson, 38, reached a tentative agreement Monday with the San Francisco Giants for $23 million over two years.

Catcher Francisco Pena’s new deal with the Royals, announced Sunday, is a split contract that calls for him to receive the major-league minimum of $500,000 if he remains all of next season on the big-league roster.
Pena, 24, will get $81,500 if he spends the season in the minors. He will get pro-rated salaries of both rates if he splits time in the majors and minors. He is the son the former Royals manager Tony Pena and the brother of former Royals shortstop Tony Pena Jr.
Francisco Pena spent the last seven years in the Mets’ organization and is currently batting .186 (eight for 43) through 17 games for Aguilas in the Dominican Winter League.Winter details
All-Star catcher Salvy Perez began playing winter ball last Saturday and is four for 11 with two walks in three games for La Guaira in the Venezuelan Winter League.
Third baseman Mike Moustakas is expected to join Lara in the Venezuelan League shortly after Thanksgiving. Lara is managed by Royals hitting coach Pedro Grifol.
