Staley soccer is enjoying its finest season, but even a sparkling 21-3 record isn’t good enough to get the Falcons into the Missouri Class 3 girls soccer poll. No matter, junior striker Lauren Sullivan doesn’t need affirmation from the coaches to know she and Staley are enjoying an historic season. That includes her recent two-goal performance in a 7-1 win Wednesday against Oak Park, which gave her 100 career goals with a year still to go. She’s the 18th girl in Missouri girls soccer history to hit the century mark. So we decided to shine The Star’s Spring Spotlight on Sullivan, who also has 39 career assists and has committed to Creighton.

Staley High School senior Michael McCulloch won the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 39.11 seconds, but he finished second in the 800 meters behind Oak Park’s Liban Samatar, who won in 2:02.62.

Blue Springs High School senior Erron Holley won the 100-meter dash in 11.04 seconds and clipped Lee’s Summit North sophomore Thomas Hawkins by five-hundredths of a second in the 200 final, winning with a time of 22.04 at the Suburban Conference Gold Division track and field meet last week.
