Blue Springs two-way star lineman Daniel Parker Jr. and Lee’s Summit West cornerback/wide receiver Mario Goodrich have been nominated for the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Parker, who committed to Missouri last August but has since reopened his recruitment, and Goodrich, who committed Tuesday to Nebraska, are the only players from the Kansas City area among more than 400 nominees announced Thursday by event promoters.
According the release, Parker — who released a top 10 on Monday that included Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska — is listed as a defensive lineman and Goodrich, who also has elite return skills, is an athlete.
Six players from the St. Louis area — Ritenour linebacker Ayodele Adeoye, Christian Brothers College wide receiver Kamryn Babb, Pattonville quarterback Kaleb Eleby, Lutheran North defensive end Ronnie Perkins, Parkway North defensive tackle Michael Thompson and Chaminade defensive tackle Trevor Trout — also were nominated.
William Chrisman defensive end Daniel Carson — whose top 11 includes Alabama, Georgia, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Miami (Fla.) — was a notable omission from the nomination list.
Carson also has offers from Mizzou, Kansas State and Kansas.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl nomination list, which is compiled by a selection committee that includes a network of scouts and coaches with input from 247 Sports, will be whittled to 100 players for the game on NBC next January.
