EASTERN KANSAS LEAGUE 1. Blue Valley West (3-0, 2-0 EKL)

Last week: defeated Blue Valley North 42-14

The roll continues for the Jaguars, who are in the midst of a three-week homestand.

2. Bishop Miege (3-0, 3-0 EKL)

Last week: defeated Blue Valley Northwest 45-14

The Stags haven't allowed much defensively, but they face a stiff test with a trip to Gardner Edgerton on Friday.

3. Blue Valley (2-1, 1-1 EKL)

Last week: defeated Salina South 35-28

The Tigers escaped with a road victorylast Friday, but they need to solve fumbling woes.

4. Gardner Edgerton (2-1, 2-1 EKL)

Last week: defeated Blue Valley Southwest 48-17

For the Trailblazers to keep their conference title hopes alive, they must hold serve at home Friday against Bishop Miege.

5. Blue Valley Northwest (1-2, 1-2 EKL)

Last week: lost to Bishop Miege 45-14

A defense that has allowed 94 points over the last two game doesn't catch a break Friday with a trip to Blue Valley West.

6. St. Thomas Aquinas (0-2, 0-3 EKL)

Last week: lost to Salina Central 42-40

The surprising tailspin continues for the Saints, who have lost by a combined nine points the last two weeks.

7. Blue Valley Southwest (2-1, 1-1 EKL)

Last week: lost to Gardner Edgerton 48-17

After two wins to open the season, BV Southwest came crashing back to earth in a loss to Gardner Edgerton.

8. Blue Valley North (0-3, 0-3 EKL)

Last week: lost to Blue Valley West 42-14

Not much has gone right for the Mustangs thus far. They are allowing 41 points per game.

SUNFLOWER LEAGUE 1. Shawnee Mission West (3-0, 3-0 SL)

Last week: defeated Lawrence 14-13

The Vikings are still searching for more production on offense heading into their showdown with Lawrence Free State.

2. Lawrence Free State (3-0, 3-0 SL)

Last week: defeated Olathe East 28-26

Payback will be on the Firebirds' minds Friday when they face SM West, the team that bounced them from the playoffs last season.

3. Shawnee Mission East (3-0, 3-0 SL)

Last week: defeated Olathe Northwest 27-22

The Lancers continue to run the ball effectively with a host of running backs.

4. Shawnee Mission South (2-1, 2-1 SL)

Last week: defeated Shawnee Mission Northwest 28-21

The Raiders seem to have a knack for playing in close games. All three games have been decided by one possession.

5. Olathe North (2-1, 2-1 SL)

Last week: defeated Shawnee Mission North 62-14

A week after falling to Shawnee Mission South, the Eagles had no problem getting back on track.

6. Olathe South (2-1, 2-1 SL)

Last week: defeated Leavenworth 20-16

The Falcons were able to overcome a sloppy game offensively for a win in Leavenworth.

7. Olathe East (1-2, 1-2 SL)

Last week: lost to Lawrence Free State 28-26

The Hawks are certainly better than their record shows. Two losses have come by a combined five points.

8. Lawrence (0-3, 0-3 SL)

Last week: lost to Shawnee Mission West 14-13

A one-point loss to SM West isn't exactly reason for panic, but the Lions need something positive. And fast.

9. Olathe Northwest (1-2, 1-2 SL)

Last week: lost to Shawnee Mission East 27-22

The Ravens are looking for better production from their defense, which is allowing nearly 250 rushing yards per game.

10. Leavenworth (1-2, 1-2 SL)

Last week: lost to Olathe South 20-16

No need to look for the difference in the game last Friday. The Pioneers were minus-2 in the turnover battle.

11. Shawnee Mission Northwest (0-3, 0-3 SL)

Last week: lost to Shawnee Mission South 28-21

The Cougars have been more competitive than their record shows, twice losing by one touchdown during their 0-3 start.

12. Shawnee Mission North (0-3, 0-3 SL)

Last week: lost to Olathe North 62-14

Don Simmons will try again for his first win as the Indians' coach when they play host to Olathe East on Friday.
