The Star’s All-Metro girls cross country team:
Ann Campbell, St. Teresa’s Academy, junior.
The victories came in bunches for Campbell, who was crowned the champion of the KC Metro Championships before later winning her district and sectional races. She placed fifth at the Missouri Class 4 state meet in 18 minutes, 47 seconds.
Bailee Cofer, St. Thomas Aquinas, senior.
She led the Saints to a perfect team finish at the Kansas Class 5A state championship meet and won the individual title with a run of 15 minutes, 28 seconds.
Elizabeth Carpino, Lee’s Summit North, senior.
One of the area’s most improved runners this season, Carpino placed seventh at the Missouri Class 4 state meet this fall, one year after settling for 63rd place. She finished in 18 minutes and 53.18 seconds.
Claire Sanner, Lawrence Free State, sophomore.
Sanner finished fifth at the Kansas Class 6A state meet with a time of 15 minutes, 24 seconds and helped Free State capture the team title.
Annika Sisson, Lee’s Summit West, senior.
A consistent leadpack runner, Sisson put together a memorable season that included top-three finishes at districts, sectionals and the KC Metro Championships.
Emily Venters, Lawrence Free State, freshman.
She won the Kansas Class 6A state title and led the Firebirds to a top team finish with the fastest girls time of the day, clocking in at 14 minutes and 58 seconds — 26 seconds faster than her sixth-place finish at the Rim Rock Classic earlier in the season.
Kennadee Williams, Lee’s Summit West, senior.
A season full of peaks and valleys concluded on a high note when Williams crossed the finish line in 19 minutes, 7.87 seconds at the Missouri Class 4 state meet, good for 12th place.
NOTE: Beginning with the 2013-14 high school sports season, The Star will only be selecting an All-Metro first team in girls cross country.
