The postseason featured a rocky start for Park Hill senior golfer Sam Paulak. Hopeful of competing for district and sectional championships, Paulak instead finished outside the top-five in each, compiling a combined score of 30-over par in the two tournaments.
She rediscovered her game at an opportune time Monday.
Paulak fired a 4-over 75 at the Missouri Class 2 state tournament Monday at Columbia Country Club. She is tied for second place, 4shots behind Seckman’s Claire Solovic, heading into the final round Tuesday.
“The last two weeks were good learning experiences, but the past is in the past,” Paulak said in a phone interview. “I have to say I was in a much better state of mind. I didn’t let anything faze me.”
Never miss a local story.
After winning conference, district and sectional titles over the last three weeks, Blue Springs senior Mady Acers carded a 77 on Monday, which put her in a sixth-place tie.
Park Hill South senior Miranda Steczak is tied for 10th at 79. Kearney senior Anna Zech, who tied for the sectional championship last week, is in 13th place.
Liberty is fourth in the team standings after compiling a score of 349, which trails leader St. Joseph’s Academy by 11 shots. Blue Springs is fifth with a 356.
