Kayla Eckelkamp shot a 1-over 73 Monday to take the first-round lead in the fourth annual Prairie Invitational at Milburn Country Club. The event, which is open to both pro and amateur golfers, is also playing host to the Kansas Women’s Amateur.
With an opening-round 74, Ashley Judd is one stroke off the lead in the Prairie Invitational and holds a 2-stroke lead over Rosie Klausner in the Kansas Women’s Amateur. Allison Bray also opened with a 74 in the Prairie Invitational.
The Prairie Invitational, formerly known as the Women’s Amateur of Kansas City, and the Kansas Women’s Amateur are 54-hole events that continue today through Wednesday at the club in Overland Park.
The men’s Kansas Amateur was contested last week through the weekend.
