Comments by the 49ers’ Vernon Davis may spark the Bears tonight.

The NFL Network kicks off its eight-game schedule with a bit of a dud. The 49ers have lost four straight, and the Bears have lost three of their last four, including a 41-21 loss at home to Arizona when Chicago surrendered five TD passes to the Cardinals’ Kurt Warner. But there will be no lack of storylines. San Francisco coach Mike Singletary, a Hall of Fame linebacker with the Bears’ Super Bowl champions of 1985, will face his former club for the first time. And how about the remarks by San Francisco TE Vernon Davis? Davis, who has caught 42 passes and is tied for the league lead with seven TD catches, said this about facing the Bears: “I think we can destroy their front. I don’t see anything spectacular about their front line. Their linebackers, I think we can handle them pretty well.”
