Somebody has to pay for Chiefs’ play

Defensive coordinators dream of facing a one-dimensional offense. The Chiefs had the freedom to man up on the perimeter and send nine men to stop the run. It’s inexcusable and a sign of poor front-seven personnel that McFadden, Bush and starter Justin Fargas averaged 7.8, 5.6, and 4.8 yards per carry, respectively.

Why would a sane person pay $22 to park, $75 a ticket and fight the construction traffic to watch Carl Peterson and his flunkies build a football bridge to nowhere? You can put lipstick on a pig, and it’s still a five-year Super Bowl plan that’s 20 years past due.

There’s no reason to wait. Clark Hunt should announce this week that this is Peterson’s final season. There are no lifetime contracts in professional sports, and Peterson sure as hell hasn’t earned one.

More than loyalty to Herm Edwards, the Hunts owe loyalty to the fans who have filled Arrowhead Stadium for two decades. If a new general manager/president is uninterested in working with Edwards, that is Herm’s problem. Not ours. We deserve a fresh start.
