All but one regular returns from a 39-0 team. Two of the nation’s best players are on the roster. Connecticut isn’t just favored to win a second straight championship, the Huskies are expected to bring home the trophy.
Stanford, led by Jayne Appel, is the top challenger. The Cardinal, who fell to UConn in last year’s title game, will be formidable. The ACC should be solid with North Carolina, Duke and Virginia as Final Four contenders.
One of the big attractions figures to be a freshman, Baylor’s Brittney Griner, the dunk machine. The Bears attracted 6,000 at their first exhibition. She scored 13 but had no dunks.
But it all comes back to Connecticut and another quest for perfection.
