The University of Missouri-Kansas City will take on schools from the Big 12, SEC, ACC and Big Ten in men’s basketball this season.
The school released its basketball schedule Thursday, and it features a home game with SEC opponent Mississippi State with new head coach Ben Howland on Dec. 12.
The Kangaroos open the regular season Nov. 13 at Minnesota and will take visits to Iowa, Oklahoma State and Louisville before beginning Western Athletic Conference play on Jan. 7 against Seattle at home.
All home games will be played at Municipal Auditorium, including double-headers with the UMKC women’s teams on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.
Never miss a local story.
The Kangaroos return WAC player of the year Martez Harrison, a point guard who averaged a league-best 17.5 points.
UMKC welcomes a large recruiting class, including five junior college transfers. Among them is Kyle Steward, who averaged 12.7 points as an All-Jayhawk Conference forward for Butler Community College last season.
Steward was among three newcomers who played with the Kangaroos on a tour of Brazil earlier in the month. UMKC went 3-0 against club teams on the trip.
