It was a bad day for UMKC Kangaroos basketball in Chicago on Saturday.
UMKC lost to last-place Chicago State 92-86 in the regular-season finale.
With the win, Chicago State (3-28, 1-13) broke its 24-game losing streak and won its first WAC game of the season.
UMKC, meanwhile, dropped to 10-21 and 5-9 and will be the No. 7 seed in the WAC tournament, which starts Thursday in Las Vegas. Chicago State will be seeded eighth.
UMKC trailed by two at halftime on Saturday, but Chicago State opened the second half with eight unanswered points.
Isaiah Ross hit back-to-back three-pointers, bringing the Kangaroos to within three points at 58-55 with 14:37 to play, but UMKC was unable to get closer.
Ross led UMKC with 24 points, and Brandon McKissic added 22. The Kangaroos as a team were 5 of 24 on three-point shots.
Deionte Simmons led the Cougars with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
