Mizzou and Kansas State to resume football series

Missouri and Kansas State will resume their football series in 2022 when the Wildcats are scheduled to play the Tigers on Sept. 10 in Manhattan. As part of a two-year agreement, the teams will also play on Sept. 16, 2023 in Columbia. The teams have not played each other since 2011, Mizzou’s final football season in the Big 12 before joining the Southeastern Conference.

Drew Lock leads college football in touchdown passes. But should he go pro early?

Mizzou Tigers quarterback Drew Lock, a junior from Lee’s Summit, leads the NCAA in touchdown passes with 35. There’s a good chance the NFL Draft advisory board does not give him a first- or second-round grade, meaning it will tell him to return to school. But the board is conservative, and draft analysts believe Lock’s physical traits would give him a chance to go between the second and fifth rounds of the seven-round draft, if he decides to leave MU after this season.

Missouri’s backup quarterback has taken a similar route as Drew Lock

Despite being a redshirt freshman and Mizzou starting quarterback Drew Lock having a career year as a junior, Micah Wilson has received some playing time during the Tigers last four games. With Missouri blowing out opponents during its four-game winning streak, Wilson has been able to play the majority of the fourth quarter. Like Lock, Missouri was Wilson’s dream school and the two connected instantly on Wilson’s official visit. Lock said he sees a lot of himself in Wilson because he made a lot of mistakes early on and approached them with a similar mindset.

Here’s how Barry Odom thinks his Mizzou team changed after his ‘turnaround’ speech

Missouri Tigers football coach Barry Odom says he saw his team preparing the right way, even during a 1-4 start, and focused on continuing that. Mizzou has won three in a row and plays Tennessee on Saturday in the Tigers’ home finale. Odom also said that he has learned his current team isn’t built to talk about long-term goals and focusing on the smaller things has allowed them to be more successful.

Mizzou rolls past Florida, creeps closer to bowl game with third straight win

Missouri’s surge toward bowl eligibility continued Saturday with a 45-16 victory over Florida, the Tigers’ third straight win. Mizzou, 4-5, never trailed against the Gators, who were playing in their first game under interim coach Randy Shannon. Missouri senior safety Anthony Sherrils, a graduate of Hogan Prep, had a career game for the Tigers with a fumble recovery, interception and six tackles. True freshman running back Larry Rountree ran for three touchdowns and Tigers quarterback Drew Lock threw for 228 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
