Missouri star freshman forward Michael Porter Jr., who is out indefinitely, missed his second straight game with a left leg injury, and Mizzou looked like it was missing a star player in 77-59 loss at Utah

Michael Porter Jr.’s status remains unclear for Thursday’s Mizzou Tigers basketball game at Utah and coach Cuonzo Martin said Monday that he wasn’t sure if Porter Jr. would travel with the team. In the meantime, the Tigers have been led by Jordan Barnett and Kevin Puryear. Graduate transfer Kassius Robertson had a strong game against Wagner, scoring a team-high 23 points, which included five threes and a 70 percent shooting performance.

Mizzou basketball is redshirting two players

C.J. Roberts, a freshman point guard from Texas, was the prize recruit of former coach Kim Anderson’s recruiting class. Cuonzo Martin recruited Roberts to still come to Missouri when Martin became the Tigers’ new coach. Mitchell Smith, a sophomore forward, played in 11 games last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Meet Missouri’s 2018 basketball recruiting class

The Mizzou Tigers men’s basketball team signed three wings in coach Cuonzo Martin’s first full class: K.J. Santos, Torrence Watson and Javon Pickett. They are expected to help Missouri on the wing after the Tigers are expected to lose Michael Porter Jr. to the NBA Draft and both Kassius Robertson and Jordan Barnett to graduation following this season.
