Missouri junior defensive end Shane Ray recorded his fifth two-sack game of the season Saturday in a 20-10 win against Kentucky and Monday was rewarded with his fourth SEC weekly award of the season.
Ray was chosen as the conference defensive lineman of the week for third time after totaling five tackles, including those two sacks, along with a pass breakup against the Wildcats.
Ray leads the SEC in sacks (12) and tackles for a loss (16). He also broke the Tigers’ single-season record for sacks, passing Aldon Smith (11 1/2 in 2009) and Michael Sam (11 1/2 in 2013).
Ray also won the SEC’s weekly defensive line award after the South Carolina and Florida games and was the conference’s defensive player of the week after the Central Florida victory.
