Missouri softball pitcher Tori Finucane is finalist for NCAA freshman award

Missouri freshman pitcher Tori Finucane is a finalist for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s inaugural NCAA Division I national freshman of the year award.
Finucane, who won the SEC freshman of the year award Monday, was among 10 finalists announced Thursday.
The award will be presented May 27 before the start of the 2014 NCAA Women’s College World Series, which begins May 29 in Oklahoma City. The list of finalists will be trimmed to three May 22.
Finucane, a first-team All-SEC selection, is 21-6 with a 1.73 ERA in 32 games, including 29 starts. She has struck out 168 with 57 walks and a .223 opponents’ batting average in 190 1/3 innings.
