Arkansas used a big run late in Sunday’s game with Missouri and then held on for a 72-70 victory in the SEC finale for both schools.
The Tigers, 17-12 overall and 6-10 in SEC, led 57-54 after Bri Kulas’ layup with 7:37 remaining.
But the Razorbacks went on a 15-2 spurt over the next four minutes and grabbed a 10-point lead. Mizzou then made seven consecutive free throws, trimming the deficit to 69-66 with 1:07 to play.
The Tigers got the lead down to 71-70 after two free throws my Morgan Eye, and they quickly fouled. Arkansas’ Jhasmin Bowen made one of two free throws, giving Mizzou a chance to tie or win the game.
But Eye missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Eye had 20 points, while freshman Jordan Frericks scored a career-high 18 points for the Tigers, who open play in the SEC tournament on Wednesday in Duluth, Ga. MU, the 12th seed, will play No. 13-seed Mississippi State at 6 p.m.
