SEC coaches put two MU players on all-conference first team

Missouri landed two players on the All-Southeastern Conference coaches’ first team announced Tuesday.

Defensive end Michael Sam and defensive back E.J. Gaines were picked to the first team. Offensive lineman Justin Britt and Marcus Murphy, chosen as an all-purpose player, made the second team.

The Tigers had four first-teamers, including Sam as the defensive player of the year on

the AP team announced Monday


Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players. The coaches’ individual award winners will be announced Wednesday and the coaches’ all-freshman team will be announced Thursday.
