Best item in Bob Knight’s snack bag
Coaching legend and ESPN analyst Bob Knight brought his own treats to the game. The bag included Fritos, Mr. Goodbars, Hershey’s and Snapple. Good call on the Mr. Goodbar.
Best frozen moment
Elijah Johnson’s layup rolled around the rim, reached the flat part that connects the basket to the backboard and nothing. The ball sat there. When it became apparent the ball wasn’t moving, KU’s Travis Releford brought it down. Johnson was fouled on the play, so he got two free throws.
Best efforts in losing causes
Two stood out. Kansas State’s Jordan Henriquez finished with 22 points and a career-best 14 rebounds in the loss to Baylor. Henriquez entered his junior season with a 3.0 career scoring average. Texas A’s Khris Middleton had 24 points, a nice finish to an injury-plagued season.
Best first-half beatdown
With apologies to Baylor forward Perry Jones III’s 21-point, eight-rebound first half against Kansas State, Missouri’s 49-24 first-half explosion against Oklahoma State was even more impressive. Phil Pressey had five steals, Steve Moore had two blocks, and Kim English had 21 points, matching Jones’ earlier output in Baylor’s victory. Not bad.
During an era in which coaches feel compelled to force team colors into their outfits — Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford’s bright orange tie was almost as difficult to look at as Baylor’s highlighter-yellow uniforms — Missouri coach Frank Haith’s black suit and gold tie was understated style.

So radioactive they not only left the Wildcats repulsed, but sluggish, confused, and unfocused. Opposite effect on PJ3.
