K-State will soon welcome freshman point guard Jevon Thomas to the court. The newcomer enrolled at K-State last year, but has been ineligible to practice or play with the Wildcats since arriving on campus. That will change on Saturday, when he will become a full member of the team. K-State coaches have been high on Thomas since he signed. Weber said he won’t be considered for playing time until Dec. 28, when K-State faces Tulane in Brooklyn, at the earliest. But he is expected to see the floor once he masters Weber’s motion offense.
• After being held scoreless in his last game, Weber challenged Spradling to play at a higher level against Troy. He didn’t back down. The senior guard made four three-pointers and scored 14 points. “It was good to see Will make some shots,” Weber said. “It was just a good, balanced game.” Added Spradling: “I felt good all week. I have been doing well in practice, shooting the ball really well. Coaches have been on me to shoot the ball more. That’s something I focused on today.”
• Danzel McDaniel, a cornerback from Dodge City Community College verbally committed to K-State on Sunday. He announced the decision on his Twitter account. McDaniel is a three-star defensive back, according to Rivals. He chose K-State over Nebraska, Iowa State, Arkansas and others.| Kellis Robinett, firstname.lastname@example.org
