8 p.m. Thursday at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan.

ESPN2; WHB (810 AM)

The Rebels are off to a strong start behind Marshall Henderson, one of the most noticeable players in college basketball, and two other dynamic scorers. Jarvis Summers, Derrick Millinghaus and Henderson all average more than 15 points. Mississippi has beaten Georgia Tech and Penn State in back-to-back games. The Rebels are 3-0 against K-State. They last defeated the Wildcats in 2009 at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

The Wildcats don’t have an impressive win, but that could change on Thursday. A victory over Mississippi would help make up for early losses to Northern Colorado and Charlotte. Thomas Gipson has played well since he returned to action, averaging more than 11 points and five rebounds. Shane Southwell is also coming off his best game.

• BOTTOM LINE: If K-State brings its A game to Bramlage Coliseum for this one, it can land a signature victory over Mississippi. If it doesn’t, Marshall Henderson can steal the show.
