No. 20 Kansas State and No. 24 Missouri stayed put in the new Associated Press Top 25 but both rose in the USA Today college football coaches’ poll Tuesday.

Kansas State moved up one spot to No. 20 in the coaches’ poll, while Missouri, unranked to begin the season, jumped into the poll at No. 22.

The Tigers had the most votes of any team outside the coaches’ top 25 last week. They opened the season Saturday with 38-18 victory against South Dakota State.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel is one of the voters in the poll this season.

The Tigers are one of eight SEC teams in the coaches’ poll along with Alabama (No. 2), Auburn (5), Georgia (8), LSU (12), Texas A&M (13), Mississippi (17) and South Carolina (21).

Florida State and Alabama remained in the top two spots in both polls.

Among other Big 12 programs in the coaches’ poll, Oklahoma was third, Baylor moved up a spot to No. 9, while Texas slipped one spot to No. 25.

The AP poll also features eight SEC teams, including the Tigers. Alabama and Auburn checked in second and fifth, but Georgia moved up to sixth and Texas A&M rocketed 12 spots to No. 9 after beating South Carolina.

The Gamecocks, which started the season ranked No. 9, flipped spots with the Aggies and are 21st. LSU (12) and Mississippi (15) also are ranked.

Oklahoma remained fourth behind Oregon in the AP ranking, while Baylor is 10th.
