Ryan Kreklow led the way for Missouri State in its 71-66 win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday night in Springfield in the campus round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.
Kreklow scored 17 points for the Bears (7-3). Ronnie Rousseau III added 15 points, and Chris Kendrix scored 12 for Missouri State. Alize Johnson, who had double-doubles in the three previous games, was held scoreless Saturday but hauled in 11 rebounds.
Missouri State pulled away with a 16-2 run in the first half and built a 30-14 lead with 5:22 left in the half. The run included a pair of three-pointers from Kreklow.
Despite trailing by 20 in the second half, Southeast Missouri continued to chip away, cutting the deficit to 65-63 on a pair of free throws from Denzel Mahoney with 2:10 left.
Antonius Cleveland’s 23 points led three Southeast Missouri players in double figures.
Missouri State women triumph
Missouri State held North Texas to 35 percent shooting from the field in a 63-54 victory Saturday in Springfield.
Bishop Miege’s Lexi Hughes scored a game-high 17 points for the Bears, 4-6. Audrey Holt added a career-high 11 points with eight rebounds, and Liza Fruendt had 10 points and nine rebounds for Missouri State.
The Bears never trailed in the game. Missouri State increased its lead to as many as 14 points despite making only 9 of 35 shots in the second half.
