NEGRO LEAGUES BEISBOL:
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will open a new exhibit, “Negro Leagues Beisbol.” Organizers say it “examines the cultural and historical connection between the Negro Leagues and Latin America.” The exhibit is free in the museum’s Changing Gallery through Sept. 30. Former Negro League players Enrique Maroto, Pedro Sierra, Hank Mason, George Altman, Carl Long, Gil Carter, Ernie Johnson and Bob Motley will be at an autograph session from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Autographs (one item per person) are free with a paid admission. DRESSED TO THE NINES:
As part of the Royals’ annual “Salute to the Negro Leagues,” the will wear the uniforms of the Kansas City Monarchs and the Orioles will wear Baltimore Black Sox uniforms. It’s also the “Dressed to the Nines” event where fans are asked to wear “their Sunday best in a symbolic salute to the way fans dressed for Monarchs games.” The first 10,000 fans will receive a special Monarchs fedora.
