Alex Smith says his agent is working on a contract extension with Chiefs

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith said on Monday that his agent, Tom Condon, has been in negotiations with the club about a contract extension, and that’s the way Smith wants it. Smith, who will earn $7.5 million in 2014, said he has not set a timetable for when he’d like to get a deal done, nor does he feel any insecurity not playing under a long-term contract.

Chiefs might draft a quarterback this year
