NCAA board endorses more power for big schools

The NCAA's board of directors took the first step toward shifting power to the five largest football conferences on Thursday, endorsing a 57-page plan that calls for giving 65 of the nation's biggest schools more autonomy in how to fund scholarships, handle health care and decide other increasingly hot-button issues involving their athletes.

KU has two recruits in top six of Rivals’ class of 2014 basketball rankings

If you put much stock in basketball recruiting rankings, the rich continue to get richer in the Big 12 and Southeastern conferences. Kansas features two players in the top six of Rivals’ final top 150 rankings for the class of 2014, which were released on Thursday morning. Kentucky has four players in the top 30. Missouri players still hold out hope for NCAA bid on Sunday

Missouri juniors Jabari Brown and Jordan Clarkson won’t watch any basketball this weekend after the Tigers’ NCAA Tournament dreams likely were dashed Friday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta with a SEC quarterfinal loss to No. 1 Florida. “I’m tired hearing about this ‘first team out’ and all that stuff. In Black and Gold Game, Maty Mauk shows he’s ready to take Missouri’s reins

As spring games go, Missouri’s Black and Gold Game on Saturday at Memorial Stadium was a thriller. Of course, the final score — the reserves, who started with a 14-point lead, rallied for a 21-20 victory in the closing seconds — doesn’t matter much. The 15th and final spring practice for a Tigers team that is eager to build off a 12-2 season in 2013 was less about winning than it was about preparing to win.
