Royals are seeking to unload payroll this offseason. Here are the numbers

One year after their payroll approached a club-record $150 million, the Royals arrived at this week’s winter meetings with more than $115 million in salary commitments for 2018 and a strong desire to pare down. The mission to subtract could manifest itself in a number of different moves. It also comes with the club still publicly pursuing free agent Eric Hosmer, a first baseman who could command a contract worth more than $100 million.

Watch: Could this be America's roughest street? A Kansas town lays claim to one heck of a bump

McLouth, Kan. has one heck of a bump in the middle of Granite Street. It's the top of a boulder deposited during the ice age and was left in place when early residents couldn't move it. The boulder was eventually paved around and is now something drivers in McLouth know to watch for- usually.
