J.K. Rowling has said two main characters will die in the last book, but who?

Why they'll live He's our hero. And he's just a boy. J.K. Rowling couldn't kill him off because we'd kill her! He's not the hero. And Rowling has scoffed: "As if I'm going to kill Harry's best friend. She's smart and thinks things through. Bonus: Rowling has said she sees her young self in Hermione. As Sirius Black has said, "Snape certainly clever and cunning enough to keep himself out of trouble." Maybe he'll help defeat Voldemort. Hey, even Darth Vader had nice Anakin Skywalker deep inside. So maybe nice Tom Riddle...oh, never mind.
Why they'll die Always the hero, he could martyr himself to save loved ones. And this way, no one can step in and write a sequel. He's not the hero. And his determination to stand by Harry through anything could make him a target. She "does have quite a lot of vulnerability in her personality," Rowling says. In her passion to do what's right, she could go wrong. Everyone wants to avenge Dumbledore's death. And if it turns out he's good, he may sacrifice himself to help Harry. Double agents don't live long. He just has to die, that's all. Hasta la vista, Voldy!
