The Kansas tourism website offers this slogan for attracting people to the Sunflower State:
“There’s no place like Kansas.”
Yes, yet another tired reference to “The Wizard of Oz.”
But can Gov. Sam Brownback and his crew do better? On Friday, a report emerged that change could be in the air.
Here are a few more details: Martin Hawver of Hawver’s Capitol Report said a request for proposals has been issued "for a contractor to think up, and then show the state how to efficiently use," a new slogan...." One that won't be considered is "Kansas ... as big as you think," a prior motto that the state shelved a few years ago.The deadline for the new proposal is Dec. 23, Hawver reported.
Go ahead and read a few of the suggestions that rolled in during the day Friday.
But let’s face it: You can do better, right?
If so, put them in the Comments area, or send them directly to email@example.com. If I get enough, they’ll get some publicity in a future post here.
And try to be positive! After all, most of the ones offered on Friday weren’t exactly uplifting.
