Plenty of Americans are using social media to react to the horrifying murders Wednesday in San Bernardino.
As expected, gun control advocates are tweeting their support for stronger laws. This is the crowd I stand with.
But there’s a whole other part of the country, such as big supporters of the Second Amendment and the National Rifle Association, out in force talking about the need to keep government’s hands off their weapons.
Never miss a local story.
I find these people’s views scary, in some respects. However, they are strongly held, and worth paying attention to as our nation’s gun crisis evolves.
Here are examples:
And here are two that, by hours, pre-date the San Bernardino killings, but speak to the heart of the matter, at least as defenders of the Second Amendment see it.
I hope San Bernardino becomes a rallying cry for strong gun control in America.
But as you can see, plenty of others heartily disagree.
Which means these massacres are likely to continue long into the future, without meaningful attempts in Congress to stop them.
