George Zimmerman’s ugly future

It’s no solace for the family of Trayvon Martin, of course. But George Zimmerman’s life seems to be imploding in a series of brushes with the law.

And it’s sad but also easy to predict that Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watchman, has lots of future jail time staring him in the face.

Zimmerman was

arrested and charged Monday

with assault and battery in a domestic violence dispute with his girlfriend. He allegedly pointed a long-barreled shotgun at here.

One of the most chilling parts of Monday’s event was the calm way in which Zimmerman

talked to a 911 dispatcher

, laying out in detail why this was not his fault.

It’s reminiscent of the calm way Zimmerman talked to 911 officials the night he called in to say he was following the unarmed Martin, who moments later was killed by Zimmerman.

At trial, Zimmerman incredibly was found not guilty of murder.

But since then he has been stopped for several incidents while driving. And his wife accused him of threatening her with a gun (sound familiar?) several months ago, although no charges were filed.

Americans haven’t heard the last of George Zimmerman. His recent actions indicate that he is likely to be in the news for quite some time, and not in a positive way.
