I am hearing from readers who are confused by changes made this week by Legacy.com, the company that hosts the obituaries on KansasCity.com, as they do for most newspaper websites.
The new format is cleaner than the previous one, but not everything is in the same place. In particular, people are confused about how to print an individual entry, and I’ve heard from one who thought it’s now impossible.
It’s very easy — you just have to know where to look. When you click on the name of the person whose obituary you’d like to see, you’re presented with a single-view display.
Underneath the body type, you will see a row of icons with ways to share the obituary via social networks or email. The rightmost of these icons is one that isn’t perhaps the easiest to decipher. It portrays an inkjet printer. I’ve highlighted it in the screenshot here.
Click on that and you will get a window with the text displayed and a hyperlink to send it to your printer. If you have questions, feel free to contact me and I’ll walk you through it.
