Early morning thunderstorms shook the Kansas City area Wednesday with some hail sprinkled in just to let residents know that the cold weather isn’t completely in the rear view mirror yet.

The good news brought by the downpour is that it added to the rainfall total for the year and dampened the fire hazard. Dry grass, brush and trees had caused weather forecasters to issue outdoor burn warnings.

The rainfall on Wednesday and forecast also for Thursday should keep the ground wet enough to prevent fire hazards for quite a while.
