The heat from constantly running furnaces melts the snow on roofs, which forms icicles when gutters and downspouts are clogged. The icicles can be dangerous so be careful around them.
In the spring, people in energy inefficient buildings should consider making them more energy efficient. They will love it if this year’s unusually cold winter becomes the norm for years to come.
