People should feel super-sympathetic toward folks in Atlanta and other southern communities after snowfall this week froze travel in those areas.
Sure is was only about 3 inches or less snow, but unlike people in the North and Midwest, folks in the South aren’t used to seeing snow let alone driving in it. Their vehicles aren’t prepared for it, and road crews aren’t accustomed to clearing streets so motorists can get to where they need to go safely.
Unheard of things happened as a result such as massive pileups, large numbers of cars being abandoned on roads and children with teachers having to camp out overnight at schools. Twenty-four hour TV coverage has been relentless especially by CNN, which happens to be based in Atlanta.
Fortunately, the snow doesn’t stay around long. But the larger worry is climate change and whether this is the start of a new trend for winter.
