Light-bulb hoarding marks start of New Year

New energy standards are marking the end of the old incandescent light bulbs. People who love the bulbs’ warm glow are hurrying to stores to buy the last of the lot.

Some shoppers are making a run on stores that still stock the old incandescent light bulbs.

Why? Because tougher energy standards in 2014 are forcing those light bulbs to go the way of the Edsel.

Some people aren’t buying the change. They don’t like the blue hue that the compact fluorescent light bulbs emit.

But once stores sell out of the incandescent bulbs, they will be gone for good. People who want the Thomas Edison-style warm glow that the old bulbs create better hurry to area stores before they are all out.

The downside of the old bulbs is they don’t last as long as the more energy efficient models.
