A sign at Kansas City International Airport on Monday welcomes about 2,000 visitors attending the convention of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
They will be meeting this week at Bartle Hall. Some who arrived last week already have found that the Kansas City Zoo is quite a changed and delightful attraction.
A “zoo day” will take place at the Kansas City Zoo on Thursday. But some people who arrived early have already said the zoo is much better than it has ever been.
The convention-goers also will get a chance to enjoy the Power & Light District downtown as well as Kansas City’s many barbecue restaurants, Crossroads attractions, Crown Center, the Country Club Plaza, Westport and the 18th & Vine Jazz District. The zoo folks are expected to add about $3.3 million to the local economy.
