Perseverance is a key element of civil rights

John W. Bluford III, the president and CEO of Truman Medical Center, calls himself an optimist and is excited about civil rights in next 50 years. “You have to think that the color line will be obliterated by then,” he said. What concerns him, though, is the diminishing ability of people to have good relationships forged through meaningful communications.
