People who are angry or resist the great service that the Kansas City Power & Light Co. is providing so customers can compare their energy consumption with their neighbors’ need to grow up. The wasteful times of the past are rapidly coming to an end.
In the later part of the 20th century, Americans got into the comfortable habit of not worrying about how much energy they consumed, whether it was in gas-guzzling cars the size of boats or in heating and cooling homes. Energy was relatively cheap, and there seemed to be an endless supply.
Fast forward to today, and the planet is faced with global warming caused by human consumption of fossil fuels. The big endless, energy consumption party is coming to a close.
KCP&L is doing its best to inform its customers of their energy consumption, how it compares with others’ and the company offers ways to help people cut back. Using less energy benefits consumers with lower energy bills.
Why pay more when one doesn’t have to?
Not only that, but energy reduction results in less consumption of fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, healthier people and a healthier planet. Eventually people may produce their own electricity with solar units on their homes and businesses.
But they will still have to make their residences and businesses energy efficient first.
