Lincoln College Preparatory Academy continues its long tradition of being one of the top schools in the metro area, the state and the country.
The U.S. Department of Education announced Tuesday as Kansas City Public Schools Superintendent Steve Green was giving his annual state of the schools address that Lincoln Prep has earned a National Blue Ribbon Award.
It recognizes outstanding achievement of students and staff and it places Lincoln Prep among the elite schools in the United States. Lincoln Prep this year was one of eight schools in the state to receive Missouri Gold Star.
That enabled the high school to be nominated for the National Blue Ribbon Award. Lincoln Prep previously received the honor in 2008. Schools are only eligible for either award once every five years.
A school district news release said: “Only 337 schools in the entire U.S. qualified for the National Blue Ribbon Award. Just 48 of those buildings are high schools. Lincoln was the only secondary school in Missouri to qualify this year.”
Congratulations are in order. Now the district has to get the rest of its schools to perform at that level.
