It’s not often that a celebrity entertainer also wants to just be a tourist in Kansas City.

But that’s what happened this week when pop star Katy Perry went to Schlitterbahm water park in Kansas City, Kan. and to Union Station, where she enjoyed the King Tut exhibit, which has been extended to Sept. 14. Perry wore a bikini to the water park and even tweeted about the good time she had before her Tuesday night performance at the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City.

The Huffington Post reports that Perry wrote in a caption, “Thank you @schlitterbahn KC for hosting the kids on #theprismaticworldtour today! We can't wait to do our costume changes with our sunburns tomorrow!” At the Sprint Center, Perry performed such hits as “I Kissed a Girl” and “Dark Horse.”

Her visits to tourists spots in town is the kind of publicity that the Kansas City area could only dream about getting. It just has to happen more.
