Class AA Northwest Arkansas hit three home runs Sunday and beat Corpus Christi 7-4.
Third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert hit a solo homer in the second inning, First baseman Juan Graterol hit a two-run shot in the third and catcher Micah Gibbs had a solo homer in the fourth.
The Naturals hit for the cycle in the third inning: right fielder Ethan Chapman singled, center fielder Lane Adams doubled, shortstop Orlando Calixte tripled and Graterol had the home run.
Starter J.C. Sulbaran threw five scoreless frames before wobbling in the sixth. All told, he allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Malcom Culver got his fourth save by pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
Mike Moustakas hit a solo homer in the second inning of Class AAA Omaha’s game against Round Rock. The contest was suspended in the middle of the seventh inning when it started raining. It will be completed today before the teams’ regularly scheduled game.
Daniel Rockett tripled home a run and scored on a single by Kenny Diekroeger in the eighth inning as Class A-Advanced Wilmington beat Frederick 3-1. Third baseman Hunter Dozier had two hits, including a double, and was hit by a pitch. Diekroeger also had two hits, while center fielder Bubba Starling had a single and a walk and now has a 14-game hitting streak. Christian Binford allowed one run on five hits in seven innings. He struck out eight, walked one,hit a batter and saw his ERA drop to 2.21. Kyle Bartsch, 3-2, worked around two hits in the eighth and Mark Peterson pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save.
Shortstop Ramon Torres hit two of Class A Lexington’s three home runs, but the Legends lost 11-6 to Savannah. Torres hit a solo shot in the seventh inning and a two-run homer in the ninth. Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado hit a solo homer in the third. Right fielder Dexter Kjerstad made his debut at Lexington and was one of the five Legends players with two hits. Luis Rico, 2-5, allowed three runs (two earned) in five innings, while relievers Crawford Simmons (four runs, three innings) and Andrew Edwards (four runs in one inning) struggled.
