A portion of Interstate 670 in downtown Kansas City is closed Tuesday afternoon as first responders work a reported semi crash.

The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. on eastbound I-670 under the convention center, according to an emailed release from the Kansas City Fire Department. It is unknown at this time if anyone was injured, a department spokesperson said.

“Hazmat has been ordered to the scene to clean up diesel fuel from one of the semi’s fuel tanks,” said Battalion Chief Michael Hopkines of KCFD in the release.
