Not only did Hillary Clinton, the first female presidential nominee of a major political party, lose after her presidential election victory was taken for granted, but she lost to Donald Trump, a man caught on tape boasting about groping women. Now the sadness, alarm and ensuing determination that many young American women felt after the door-slam of the 2016 election have become catalysts for a resurging women’s movement.

Former Black Caucus chair skipping inauguration, cites concern about Trump and Russia

U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, a Democrat from North Carolina and a past chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said Tuesday he doesn’t think President-elect Donald Trump is prepared to take office and he’s worried about his ties to Russia. Another N.C. Democrat, U.S. Rep. Alma Adams, also said she’s skipping Trump’s inauguration on Friday, and she criticized the way the incoming president has talked about women, minorities and people with disabilities.
