Authorities have canceled a silver alert issued for a missing Leavenworth County couple who became lost in Kansas City on Monday evening.
The couple, Everett and Bernice Smith, both 86, were stopped about 1:45 p.m. this afternoon driving in southern Leavenworth County, according to Leavenworth County Undersheriff Ron Cranor.
The couple was reported missing about 10:30 p.m. last night after a relative became concerned.
“They were lost in Kansas City, and they called her son and then their cell phone went dead at some point,” said Leavenworth County Undersheriff Ron Cranor.
The couple was driving a 1995 brown Chevrolet Silverado.
Authorities said that the vehicle was later spotted at 1 a.m. this morning near 18th Street and Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kan.
No further information was immediately available.
